Services and Clinics

The practice offers a wide variety of services and clinics.
To make an appointment for any of the following clinics or
procedures please speak to one of the receptionists.

Antenatal
Thursday 9:00am - 11:00am. Sister Mary Brennan our midwife provides
routine antenatal care. If you are not able to attend the clinic,
one of the doctors will be happy to monitor your care during normal
surgery hours.

Baby Clinic
Wednesday 1:30pm - 3:00pm. Juliet Lineham our Health Visitor
will see all new babies weekly if necessary. There is no need
to make an appointment.
Child Development
Tuesday 2:00pm - 3:00pm. Dr Backhouse monitors pre-school
child development. Children are called when their assessment
is due.

Cervical Smears
The practice operates a recall system for cervical smears. This
is usually done by the practice nurses during surgery hours.
Contraception
Contraceptive advice is offered during normal surgery hours by
the doctors and practice nurses.

Smoking Cessation
Thursday 2:00pm - 3:00pm. The clinic is run by the practice
nurse. Patients enroll on a 6 week course to help them stop
smoking following referral by a doctor or nurse. Patients
are required to complete a questionaire about their smoking
habits and hand it into reception. The practice nurse will
then contact the patient to arrange the appointment.
Asthma and Chronic Pulmonary Disease
The practice nurses regularly review all patients with these
conditions to monitor their treatment.
Diabetes
All patients with diabetes are seen regularly by the practice
nurses. They monitor the condition, in conjunction with the
doctors and advise on diet and blood sugar control to help
prevent long term complications.

Heart Disease
Patients with heart disease are reviewed by the practice nurses
and doctors.
Other Chronic Diseases
Patients with long-term illnesses are monitored by the practice
nurses and doctors during normal surgery hours. They are recalled
by telephone or letter.

Physiotherapy
Mrs Glanville, Senior physiotherapist runs clinics on Mondays,
Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays at the surgery. Patients are
seen following a doctor's referral.
Direct Access Physiotherapy
Monday 2:00pm- 3:00pm. Patients can book an advice only
appointment with Mrs. Glanville, physiotherapist. If she feels
the patient will benefit from treatment a further appointment
will be arranged in the regular physiotherapy clinics.

Practice Counsellor
The practice has an in-house counsellor who is available after
referral by a doctor.
Minor Ops.
Tuesday 2:00pm - 3:00pm. The doctors and practice nurses run a
minor surgery clinic following a consultation in normal surgery
hours.
